Hello and thank you for your interest in Kodiak, Alaska! We are a peaceful, remote, wilderness lodge, located on Raspberry Island in the Kodiak Island Archipelago, nearly 20 miles from the closest community and about 35 air miles from the city of Kodiak.
Activities centralize in our spacious and comfortable main lodge, while at the end of the day guests enjoy the comforts of our only four private guest cabins, out door jetted hot tub, cedar lined sauna, or various observation decks.
Many guests comment immediately on the beauty and silence, with the most prominent sounds coming from the various song birds and small waterfalls.
Meals are prepared in our large open kitchen and served family style, featuring local Alaskan Seafood, choice cuts of meat, freshly baked breads, salads, tasty hors d’oeuvres, and daily prepared desserts.
We provide a variety of customizable packages. Our two most popular include one which caters specifically to fishermen, the other focuses on a broader range of activities, combining fishing, bear viewing, kayaking and hiking into one trip.
Ocean fishing typically takes place from our thirty seven foot custom built catamaran, the Gemini.
The catamaran style hull greatly improves stability and cruise, and her size gives us plenty of room in her heated cabin, with a walk in, private bathroom, as well as huge deck for fishing and fighting fish.
We target big halibut, all five species of Pacific Salmon, Ling Cod, Yelloweye and other Rockfish, as well as an assortment of other salt water species.
We never fish more than eight people on the Gemini, and that is only if you are in the same group.
We never fish more than six people if we have two smaller groups.
Though we take advantage of the Gemini’s size, we do not crowd as many fishermen on board as possible.
Freshwater fishing is enjoyed by our fly fishermen and spin fishermen targeting the many different rivers and bays in our area as all five species of Pacific Salmon return home to Kodiak to spawn.
Our Explorer Packages combine kayaking, fishing, bear viewing, and hiking into one trip. However, every activity can be focused on.
For example, some just want to come for our kayaking. We are happy to accommodate.
Please let us know what your desires are on your trip to Alaska and Kodiak.
We are second generation to Raspberry Island Remote Camps. We know the area and how to make the most out of your trip.
